During a Senate committee hearing, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa refused to identify who reinstated Supt. Marvin Marcos. This information later came out in the open during the course of the hearing.
This earned the ire of Senator Leila de Lima which led the Senator an ugly exchange of words with the PNP Director General.
De Lima, angry at “Bato” for beating around the bush called him at one point a liar.
However, the president admitted that he asked dela Rosa to reinstate Supt. Marcos through Christopher “Bong” Go, the president’s special assistant. The reinstatement can show the alleged links of the Superintendent to illegal drug operations.
A day after, however, Duterte admitted that he instructed Go to call Dela Rosa. He explained that he asked that Supt. Marcos be reinstated so that he could further be observed for alleged links to illegal drug operations.
Even though Marcos has been reinstated, he is still under restrictive custody.
