President Rodrigo Duterte’s hometown received a special guest. United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim went to Davao City and dubbed it as his “first official trip outside of Manila.”
The American envoy met with a number of people. He visited the business community in Mindanao, as well as US exchange students, and members of indigenous communities.
But his visit wouldn’t be complete without visiting the city hall to meet Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte.
The Davao Public Safety and Security Command Center also received this special guest. Ambassador Kim was briefed about the city’s “achievements in prioritizing public safety.”
Kim ended his tour by paying “tribute to victims of the September 2 bombing at the Roxas Night Market.” While being there, he affirms the US’s continued support to the country’s counter-terrorism efforts.
