President Rodrigo Duterte and members of his Cabinet took some time off to snack on some bananas after the ceremony commemorating the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) 81st anniversary at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City. The way the bananas were boiled is locally known as “saging na saba”.

Journalists called on the president and members of his staff to give them some of the bananas. It was a call that was meant to tease Duterte. However, much to the surprise of the press, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana and retired AFP chief of staff Hermogenes Esperon threw them a few pieces of the boiled fruit.
